Hennessy Road Post Office - Trial Launch of Hongkong Post Self-service Postal Kiosk

A self-service postal kiosk will be put on trial at Hennessy Road Post Office (Address: G/F., Asian House, 1 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong) from 3 August 2010 (Tuesday).

The kiosk provides a one-stop-shop service for customers to weigh mail items, calculate postage according to selected service and destination, and print the required postage labels.

On the first day of trial, i.e. 3 August 2010, in order to allow more customers to try out the kiosk, a restriction of one transaction (post one mail item or purchase 10 postage labels in total - denominations of $1.4, $1.8, $2.4 and $3) per queuing customer will be imposed. Each postage label, which bears the date of issue and a "Postage Paid" indication, will only be valid for use as postage on the date of issue at the office of purchase. With effect from 3 August 2010, postage labels purchased via the postal kiosk at the eCentre (Address: 1/F, Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon) will be only available in above four denominations.

Hennessy Road Post Office opens Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..

Service Features of Hongkong Post Self-service Postal Kiosk

The kiosk is operated by a user-friendly touch screen system with operating instructions in Chinese and English. Customers may use the kiosk for posting ordinary letters, small packets, registered items, parcels and Speedpost items.

All registered items, parcels and Speedpost items have to be handed over to the service counter after processing at the kiosk. Receipt with official datestamp will serve as Certificate of Posting. All ordinary mail posted through Hennessy Road Post Office will be datestamped at processing centre.

The kiosk accepts EPS, Hong Kong notes in $20, $50 and $100 denominations, and Hong Kong coins in all denominations. Change will be given in coins only.

Customers can purchase postage labels in denominations of $1.4, $1.8, $2.4 and $3. Receipts will be issued for all transactions. Each postage label, which bears the date of issue, will only be valid for use as postage on items posted at the office of purchase on the date of issue.
