Definitive Stamp Sheetlet (No. 1): Congratulations to Professor Charles K. KAO on his award of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics

To congratulate Professor Charles KAO, Father of Fibre Optics, for being awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, Hongkong Post will issue a definitive stamp sheetlet as a tribute to his groundbreaking achievements and contributions in fibre optics communication. The stamp features the winning entry of the “Stamp Sheetlet Design Competition in Honour of Professor Charles KAO’s Being Awarded the Nobel Prize” organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Forty four years ago, Professor KAO made a discovery that led to a breakthrough in fibre optics, helping to shape the foundations of today’s internet world.
